Lance stoops to new low, shamelessly attacks Stender’s family

FANWOOD – Today, Linda Stender, candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s 7th District, released the following statement in response to shameless attacks against her family.

"I am not on the payroll nor do I work in my mother's business. My sister manages the day-to-day operations of the business," Stender said. "Leonard Lance knows full well that I have always paid my own taxes in full. And my husband and I have never faced foreclosure on our home. It is shameful that Leonard Lance and the Republican Party are attacking my 80 year old mother and sister's small business, particularly at a time when small businesses throughout New Jersey are struggling to make ends meet. I have seen up close how the Bush economy has devastated businesses that had been surviving and thriving for decades. Their situation shows urgently why we need change in Washington to get our economy moving again."

"This is truly a new low for the Republican attack machine, and especially disappointing Leonard Lance would stoop to such levels to avoid talking about the real issues that matter in this election. How dare they pursue personal attacks on my mother and sister who are trying to get by in the face of horrific economic conditions, thanks to the failed policies of President Bush and Republicans like Leonard Lance who support him. Leonard Lance owes my mother an apology and should tell the Republican Party in New Jersey to end these disgusting attacks," Stender added.
